The Story Behind This Removal
A business owner in Bullhead City observed a swarm of bees landing on a stucco column, but thought they would move on. However, the bees had other plans and gained access to the column through gaps at the top. Our team was called in to remove the bees and found that they had already started making comb inside the column. We performed a stucco cut out to access the hive and removed the bees, then repaired the damage to the stucco column. This removal highlights the importance of sealing any gaps or cracks in stucco, especially in areas like columns or bump outs, to prevent bees from making themselves at home. It also highlights the importance of calling early as this removal could have been much more extensive had the bees been given time to build extensive amounts of comb.
What we found
The client observed the swarm land on this stucco column but was under the impression that they would move on. In this case moving on meant moving into. The entire colony of bees gained access through gaps at the top of the column and into the open space.
