Removal Story

The Story Behind This Removal

At Bullhead Bee Removal, we've seen instances where bees gain access to homes, even those that are well-maintained or newly constructed. This can occur when builders or installers overlook the importance of sealing all entry points. In this case, our team found two separate areas with unique issues, both caused by installation or construction oversights. The builders had created conditions that allowed bees to enter the attic space, and fiber internet installers had compromised the exterior vent mesh, allowing bees to enter. We were able to identify that although bees were entering and exiting the gable vent, there was not yet an active colony in that space. Problem prevented. There was however an active colony in the roof. We were able to identify several conditions that allowed this including improperly secured drip edge flashing, valley flashing that was not properly centered, roof underlayment that was not secured within 2 inches of the eave edge, and gaps between roof sheathing panels. With the information provided by a thorough inspection, we were able to make a plan to access the bees through the tile roof and remediate the space under the roof. Our plan always includes actions to perform the necessary repairs after, and also to correct the initial conditions that allowed the problem in the first place to prevent future issues.

What we found

Client called because bees had gained access into the living space. This can happen when bees gain access typically through a ceiling fixture that is not sealed to the drywall.
