Removal Story
The Story Behind This Removal
We recently performed a bee removal from a water meter box in the Golden Shores area of Topock, Arizona. The bees had colonized the ground box, building several sheets of comb around the meter and valve. Unfortunately, the homeowner had unknowingly lifted the lid before realizing the bees were present, causing a partial melt of the comb due to the daytime temperatures. Our team arrived to find the bees busily working to repair the damaged comb. We were able to remove the bees for relocation, extract the comb from within the box, and return the meter box to working service order.
What we found
We are honored to often perform work for municipalities. This removal was from a ground of water meter box where bees had colonized.
What homeowners can learn
If a beehive is ever unknowingly disturbed it is always best to either replace a cover or put whatever material was moved back in place This is not only best for the bees but also for the removal effort as well as the cleanup. Once comb melts that can cause far more property damage than if left undisturbed.
